Step 1
Log in to the manufacturer’s website. Search the page for the “Downloads” or “Updates” section to find the information you need to carry out satellite receiver updates.
Step 2
Click to download the latest updates for your satellite receiver model. These come in the form of software that can be loaded into your satellite receiver, which will improve the way it works.
Step 3
Follow the instructions on the screen to finish updating your satellite.
Step 4
Connect a network cable from the Internet router to the back of your satellite receiver.
Step 5
Leave your Internet router on at all times. Your satellite receiver will download the updates it needs through the Internet.
Step 6
Press the “Menu” button on the remote control of your satellite TV to set the time you want your satellite receiver to update. Select “Preferences” and then “Updates.” Use the “Up” and “Down” arrows on your remote control to adjust the time you want the updates to occur.
Step 7
Do not plan to watch satellite television when it is time to update the receiver. This will restart after the update process is complete.
